BATH TIME PICTURES NEVER GET OLD

Now that Haelyn Bug is sitting up stronger and stronger every day we decided it would be fun for Mark to sit in the bath with her. We've been looking forward to doing this since she started actually enjoying her bath months ago, but decided to wait until she could sit up. So...he grabbed his swimsuit, ran a warm bubble bath, and had more fun playing in the water than she did. Of course.

GRANDMAMA AND BEAR CAME TO TOWN...

Haelyn Bug's second trip to Belle's. This time she got to taste tiny bits of bread, potatoes, and had some water from Mommy's cup.

Prior to her autograph signing session.

Silly girl sitting so big in her high chair.

Thursday night Grandmama and Bear came to see their Haelyn Bug. They had to literally endure rain, ice, and a possible wreck to see the little cutie. Haelyn got to play hookie from school on Friday and stayed home with them. ACU and RBS had a late start due to the ice and cold, so I was glad I didn't have to drive around with her. On Friday we had a full day of playing, eating at Belle's, and visiting Daddy at work. Saturday we had a relaxing morning, lunch at Jason's, and a quick shopping trip to The Children's Place 2.99 sale! Grandmama bought Haelyn her first pair of sunglasses...she is such a little diva in this pic. They lasted for one picture, were ripped off and placed directly in the mouth...typical.

Goodbye kisses from Grandmama and Bear!

(Just FYI: I am not a fan of how blogger organizes the pictures, and it's hard to move them once they are loaded in the message. I would have done this post and most of the others I do totally different...but at least the blog is updated. Just in case you were wondering if my brain was in backwards.)

H BUG PARTIED TOO HARD....

H Bug and Baby Baker

H really wanted to grab those moving baby arms

Tummy Time. You can see H Bug's cute little neck in this picture.
Yes, she does have one, but her cheeks and chin are usually covering it! Ha!

We started the weekend off by going to eat with Ali and sweet Cannon at Jason's Deli. Ali and I are going to try to get together more often during the day on Fridays. We need to do that so we can catch up and the kiddos can babble at one another. It's always fun to see them.

Friday night we went to the Baker's house for some yummy burgers. Mark did not take part in the yummy food, but he did feed H Bug while I ate! Thankful for that. H Bug got to meet Baby Baker for the first time. She was mesmerized by her. We have another couple friend that have a baby girl due in April. It will be fun to watch all these girls run around screaming and playing together one day.

On Saturday we played hard at home. H Bug decided to wake up at 5:45am (unusual for her) ready to go, so we played and played and played. I did, however, instruct her to take a "long winter's nap". She followed my directions perfectly. Twice. Sweet obedient girl let Mommy take a nap too! The house is a mess, but I'm okay with that. I know, I know, you are all in shock that I wrote those words. I'm working on it. I've realized that a nap and playing with my girl must trump an immaculate house.

Sunday we went to church and class. That always makes for a tired baby when she doesn't get a morning nap. I did get her to sleep on me for about 30 minutes while we were there. I think she would have fallen asleep sooner, but it was 100 degrees in our classroom. She is so warm natured and could not get comfortable. I finally had to go stand in the foyer for a minute and let the brisk air hit her. She fell fast asleep. Miss Picky Pants. We had fun though, visiting with friends at church and meeting some new people at our table.

Sunday afternoon our Abbie came over to visit H Bug. She brought her a cute monkey. I have been looking for a little monkey that H can use as a transitional object. He's perfect. Thanks Abbie!

Sunday evening we went to eat with a doctor that Mark has here visiting Hendrick. H did great. She sat like a big girl and played in the high chair. She let out a few cutie squeals, and had all of the waitresses smiling at her. She got to eat her food at the restaurant, which is always entertaining for those around. Especially when she kept sneezing between bites. Lovely.

All of this to say, we now have a snotty nosed baby. She has continued to sneeze and her little eyes are watering like crazy. We decided it would be a good idea to stay home from work/school and put the humidifier, Baby Vicks and the infamous boogie bulb to good use. There were quite a few babies sick in H's class at RBS last week with RSV so we are just being extra cautious. H was one of 4 babies that didn't get it or something similar. I am so thankful that I have the greatest boss ever, and that I have the flexibility to be home with my sweet girl while she's under the weather.

I pray for healing and health as we scoot through this cold and flu season...come on Spring!!

THE IMPORTANT THING...

The important thing about me is that I am a Mommy.
I have 2 dogs,
I have a supportive husband,
I love my family,
I am an introvert,
and I love to read,
but the important thing about me is that I am a Mommy.

If you haven't read this book or if you don't own it...read it...buy it.
I used to read this book to my class every year and they just loved it! Dr. Hood and I read it to our Early Childhood Block class at the beginning of the semester. It is a great book. We have our college students create a page to share with the class as a get to know you assignment. This is an old old book, with a great message. My brother created his own Important Thing book when he was in elementary school with his own words and illustrations. I knew right away the book he was emulating just by the way his writing was patterned. Just thought I'd share with my fellow Mommies, Grandmas, and teachers.

Miss Priss with her Bear...these are getting harder and harder to take
because she wants to eat the bear.
Poor Bear.

HOOK 'EM HORNS

Can you tell he was in excitement shock! Dad was so proud!

Proof that he had the tickets. One was his and one was Ry's...
big job to be in charge of these boogers.

Telling H Bug goodbye the morning he left for California.

Well, yes, as sad as it was, Mark did get to go to the National Championship game in Cali and root on our Horns. My parents thought that would be a fun present for both Mark and Ryan. He had a blast despite the circumstances. H Bug and I stayed in Abilene and "enjoyed" watching the game with Nathan, Katie and Caleb (friends from Canada). It was a sad day for the Horns, but what a testimony Colt McCoy is. He reminded me to evaluate what is really important in life. Life isn't about wins, losses, jobs, or games...it's about glorifying God in the best way we know how.
